The Los Angeles Dodgers (31-22) now find themselves in third place in the National League West standings following a rough home series against the San Francisco Giants that saw them lose three of four games as favorites of -167 or higher each time on the MLB odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Next the NL Central-leading St. Louis Cardinals (30-23) will visit Chavez Ravine as comparable underdogs to the Giants, opening at +157 on the moneyline for the first game of their three-game set with the Dodgers starting on Monday night (how the moneyline works).

Cardinals vs. Dodgers | OddsShark Matchup Report

Los Angeles trails the NL West-leading San Diego Padres by 2.5 games and San Francisco by two games after Sunday’s 5-4 loss, with Clayton Kershaw dropping to 7-4 after giving up all five runs and seven hits in six innings. The OVER also cashed for the third straight time to close out the series. This three-game series with St. Louis will wrap up a seven-game homestand.

The Cardinals will be ending a 10-game road trip at Dodger Stadium and just took three of four from the Arizona Diamondbacks. They lead the Chicago Cubs by a half-game in the NL Central, with the OVER on a 3-0 run at online betting sites in their last three games overall as well. St. Louis will send Jack Flaherty (8-1, 2.84 ERA) to the hill in the first game of this series opposite Trevor Bauer (5-3, 2.07 ERA) for Los Angeles. If Flaherty was facing any other pitcher for the Dodgers, he might be favored in this spot. But Bauer has gone a perfect 3-0 with an 0.90 ERA at home this season.

On Tuesday, John Gant (4-3, 1.81 ERA) will get the call for the Cardinals in the second game against what is currently an undecided starter for the Dodgers and quite possibly another bullpen game situation. The last time the defending World Series champions went to the bullpen to start, they beat the Giants for their lone win of that series, so it will be interesting to see how that works out for them this time around. Then in Wednesday’s series finale, Carlos Martinez (3-4, 4.22 ERA) is expected to start for the visitors versus unbeaten Walker Buehler (3-0, 2.66 ERA).

The Cardinals have lost the past three meetings with the Dodger after winning five straight in the series between 2018 and 2019. The UNDER is on a 3-0 run in the series too and has cashed in 12 of the previous 16 games between them.
