Taehyung Kim, more popularly known as V from the South Korean boy band BTS, visited Dodger Stadium on Monday to the joy of many fans.
V was on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and say “It’s time for Dodger baseball” before the game began.
Each time he went onto the field, high-pitched cheers filled the stadium from a packed crowd of 49,702 fans. It seems many of them went to the stadium primarily to see V as ticket sales increased and caused issues on some websites after the announcement he’d be in attendance at Dodger Stadium.
V met some of the Dodgers’ players, including Shohei Ohtani and Clayton Kershaw. However, he wasn’t able to meet Hyeseong Kim, who is rehabbing from left shoulder bursitis with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

V and Kim were able to talk through FaceTime in a video shared on the Dodgers’ social media accounts. The two planned to meet in person when Kim returns to L.A.
V was wearing a personalized Dodgers jersey with the No. 7 and “V” on the back of it. He also wore the Bad Bunny adidas Response CL Paso Fino shoes with a pair of jeans.
The left-hander from South Korea spent a few minutes warming up on the field to the delight of his fans, who cheered each time he threw the ball.
When it was finally time for the ceremonial first pitch, V walked to the mound and delivered a hard strike to Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who was catching. The two then shared a hug on the field and took a photo together before a handshake and bow.
Who is V and what is BTS?
BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a K-Pop band that formed in 2010 with seven members who co-write and produce most of their music.
BTS stands for the Korean phrase Bangtan Sonyeondan, which translates to Bulletproof Boy Scouts. In 2017, they announced their name would also stand for “Beyond the Scene.”
V, a singer and songwriter, is joined in the band by Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin and Jung Kook. V joined the band in 2013 and has also performed as an independent artist.
