Brandon Gomes: Miguel Rojas ‘Incredibly Impactful’ For Dodgers

While the Los Angeles Dodgers garnered headlines for the surprise signing of Edwin Díaz, their first move in free agency was to keep Miguel Rojas in the fold.

Fresh off his heroic performance in the World Series, a reunion between the Dodgers and Rojas made sense for both parties. Rojas re-signed with the Dodgers on a one-year, $5.5 million contract.

The Dodgers gain another season with Rojas and more time to pinpoint his replacement from a roster construction standpoint. Meanwhile, the soon-to-be 37-year-old will have the opportunity to compete for one final World Series in what he has already announced will be his last season in the Majors.

Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes said the organization is glad to have Rojas’ impact not only for his final year as a player but moving forward in the front office as well, via SportsNet LA:

“Obviously, Miggy is a dynamic player, person, and we know what he’s capable of on the field. Looking out, this is something that he’s passionate about, and you can see that in his day-to-day work. His ability to impact the organization in different ways, especially spending time around younger players, and just that work ethic he brings, and the knowledge and obviously Major League success, we feel like he can be incredibly impactful.”

In three seasons since returning to the Dodgers in 2023, Rojas has hit .259/.313/.372 while playing defense all four infield spots.

This past season, he was a finalist for the Gold Glove Award among utility infielders. While Rojas did not win the award, he was honored for the second consecutive year as the Roy Campanella Award winner, which is annually given to the Dodgers player who best exemplifies the spirit and leadership of the late Hall of Fame catcher.

This is the best piece of evidence as to why the Dodgers were motivated to bring Rojas back, as it best exemplifies the value he brings to the clubhouse.

Miguel Rojas excited for final season with Dodgers

Shortly after the Dodgers made the signing official, Rojas expressed his excitement to stay a member of the organization for one final season.

The 2026 season is going to be Rojas’ 13th at the Major League level. He will have spent five of those with the Dodgers in a tenure that’s come over two separate stints. Rojas made his MLB debut with the Dodgers in 2014 but then played for the Miami Marlins from 2015-2022.
