Brandon Gomes: Front Office Focused On ‘Needle-Movers’ For Dodgers Roster

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been one of the most active teams this offseason in terms of upgrading their roster, which began with the signing of Blake Snell to a five-year, $182 million contract.

The Dodgers have gone on to add Michael Conforto on a one-year, $17 million deal while also re-signing Blake Treinen to a two-year, $22 million contract.

The club is still interested in bringing back Teoscar Hernández on a multi-year deal and also remain the favorites to sign Roki Sasaki. They may have some surprise moves up their sleeves as well.

Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes discussed the team’s additions so far and said they will continue being active in the weeks leading up to Spring Training, via Jack Harris of the L.A. Times:

“We’ve made some moves that have set a real strong foundation for a successful team,” general manager Brandon Gomes said Wednesday as the meetings wound down at the Hilton Anatole. “Now we’ll take the next couple weeks leading up to spring training to explore what’s out there.”

Gomes added that the Dodgers want to add players who will make a difference on the 2025 roster:

“We’ll continue to try to make moves we feel are needle-movers,” Gomes said. “Whether that’s impact moves, or depth moves, all those play into our quest to repeat.”

Aside from potentially re-signing Hernández and adding Sasaki, most of the Dodgers’ heavy lifting this offseason appears to be done.

There are plenty of difference-makers still available in free agency, but the core of the Dodgers’ roster is already in place. L.A. will look to repeat as World Series in 2025 with Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and several other stars leading the way.

As for other potential moves the Dodgers could make, they are expected to re-sign Clayton Kershaw at some point this winter. The team could also look to add another high-leverage relief pitcher such as Tanner Scott.

There also is the likely scenario of re-signing Kiké Hernández.

Dodgers’ Minor League signings

In addition to the aforementioned Major League signings, the Dodgers have also added the likes of Aaron Bracho, David Bote, Joe Jacques, Justin Jarvis, Sam Carlson and Matt Sauer to Minor League contracts this offseason.
