Bobby Miller Recalled, Edgardo Henriquez Placed On Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Bobby Miller and placed Edgardo Henriquez on the 15-day injured list with low back discomfort prior to Monday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds. It was the second of two moves they made, along with optioning Emmet Sheehan and recalling Paul Gervase.

Miller returns for his second stint with the Dodgers after recording a win on Sept. 6 against the Washington Nationals with three innings of relief work, where he allowed just one run and struck out two.

The 27-year-old has been in the Majors parts of four seasons with the Dodgers, posting a 14-8 record and a 5.40 ERA. He had his best season in 2023, setting career marks in wins (11), starts (22), ERA (3.76), innings pitched (124.1), strikeouts (119) and WHIP (1.10) while looking like a potential future ace after being the club’s top pitching prospect.

However, struggles in 2024 and injury issues have put his career off track. He spent most of the 2026 season on the 60-day IL while dealing with a shoulder injury.

Miller was the Dodgers’ first round pick in 2020, selected 29th overall from the University of Louisville.

Edgardo Henriquez lands on IL

Henriquez allowed two runs on Sunday against the Marlins in 0.2 innings after entering in the eighth, trying to protect a 3-0 lead. He gave up two singles and a walk, which loaded the bases, before another single drove in two runs and Tanner Scott finished off his inning with a strikeout.

The 24-year-old has made 61 appearances this season in what has been a breakout year. The flamethrower has gone 4-1 with a 2.85 ERA and was an option to see more save opportunities as he continued to impress in high-leverage chances.

Henriquez also set a Dodgers record for the fastest pitch thrown on a strikeout earlier this year.

He is in his third season with the Dodgers, striking out 94 batters in 82.1 innings with a 2.73 ERA and a 6-2 record over his career. He was signed by the Dodgers on Sept. 25, 2018 as an international free agent out of Cumana, Venezuela.

It’s unclear how long Henriquez will be out, as the Dodgers did not make the move until after manager Dave Roberts spoke to the media. Given it’s classified as back discomfort and nothing arm-related, there should be hope it’s a shorter IL stint, rather than a long one.

But losing Henriquez for any amount of time is a huge blow to an already struggling bullpen, especially with Edwin Díaz no longer looking like an option to return soon.
