Bobby Miller Remaining In Dodgers Rotation For Start Against Yankees

The Los Angeles Dodgers cruised to a 6-1 win over the Washington Nationals in the opener of their homestand behind another solid start from Bobby Miller.

The top pitching prospect allowed just one run on four hits and recorded four strikeouts against one walk in six innings of work. “I was ready to go,” Miller said after his Dodger Stadium debut. “I was fully locked in. It was a very aggressive lineup, so I knew I had to pound the zone.”

Miller’s outing against the Nationals was his second in the big leagues and first at Dodger Stadium. “Very special. A dream come true, honestly,” Miller said of earning wins in each of his first two starts.

“Again, a very aggressive lineup and I knew the team was going to have my back. Guys have been swinging the bat very well.”

Miller’s quality start was the first by a Dodgers pitcher since Julio Urías on May 13. The 24-year-old is also the only Dodgers starting pitcher to win a game in the past 10 days.

“I don’t know if we could’ve predicted that going into the season, but it’s one of those things where it’s a long season,” manager Dave Roberts said.

“Guys are going to get opportunities by way of performance and injury. And it’s up to those guys that get the opportunities to take advantage of them, and Bobby has done it.”

Bobby Miller in Dodgers rotation against Yankees

After two impressive starts to begin his MLB career, Miller is remaining in the Dodgers rotation and next takes the mound in the series finale against the New York Yankees.

“His next start is going to be on Sunday, so we’re excited about that,” Roberts said.

“Just continue to gain experience. Started the season slow, we’ve got to be mindful of building a foundation, so as the season and summer goes on, we can turn him loose. Bobby’s done fantastic.”
