Bo Bichette Rumors: Dodgers ‘Checked On’ Star Middle Infielder

After making a splash with the signing of Edwin Díaz, the Los Angeles Dodgers turned their attention to adding a position player to help fill out their lineup, which struggled frequently at times during the 2025 regular season and into the postseason.

Adding an outfielder is the most logical option, as Andy Pages was their only player who gave them quality production this past season. The defense was also an issue in both corner spots, with Michael Conforto and Teoscar Hernández ranking as two of the worst defenders in MLB.

But the Dodgers also have versatility, which allows them to add a second baseman rather than an outfielder, depending on the health of Tommy Edman, who could shift into center field if his ankle recovers well. Hyeseong Kim has also spent some time in the outfield, but that remains a work in progress.

As they search for a position player, the Dodgers have checked in on Toronto Blue Jays star free agent Bo Bichette, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post:

Three previously unreported teams have checked on superstar Bo Bichette: Yankees, Dodgers and Cubs.

Bichette has been a shortstop throughout his career, but the Dodgers are set on keeping Mookie Betts there. However, Bichette played second base during the World Series and looked comfortable at the position. Scouts also view that as his long-term position.

The 27-year-old would represent a significant upgrade to the Dodgers lineup, and he would become their best right-handed hitter if signed. Bichette is coming off a strong season in which he hit .311/.357/.483 with 18 home runs, 94 RBI and 78 runs scored, along with a 134 wRC+ and 3.8 WAR in just 139 games.

Over his career, he’s hit .294/.337/.469 with 111 home runs, 437 RBI, 438 runs, a 122 wRC+ and 20 WAR.

Bichette represents a potential long-term solution at second base, or he could eventually move to third base once Max Muncy is no longer on the team. But he has not played in more than 140 games in any of the past three seasons, adding some concerns in a potential long-term deal.

Bo Bichette contract expectations

Bichette is expected to sign a 7-year deal worth around $200 million. It’s unlikely the Dodgers would be willing to offer that, but if he is willing to discuss shorter-term deals, then the Dodgers would surely jump in the mix.

The reality is this feels more like the team doing their due diligence and checking in on the markets for all players, or the agent trying to drive up the cost. If his market fails to develop, the Dodgers would be opportunistic, but unless that happens, the outfield remains the priority.
