Blake Treinen Left Off Dodgers Opening Day Roster For Seoul Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced their Opening Day roster for the Seoul Series, which consists of 13 pitchers and 13 position players.

One notable omission is Blake Treinen, who was placed on the 15-day injured list due a bruised lung. Treinen traveled with the Dodgers to South Korea and the initial belief was he would be active to begin the season.

Walker Buehler (right elbow surgery), Brusdar Graterol (right shoulder inflammation), Emmet Sheehan (right forearm inflammation) are on the 15-day IL as well.

Tony Gonsolin, Clayton Kershaw and Dustin May are on the 60-day injured list. Kershaw and May are candidates to return at some point during the second half of the 2024 season.

Daniel Hudson was recently added to the Dodgers’ 40-man roster and had been considered likely to break camp with the team. He is replacing Graterol, who could potentially be ready for the Dodger Stadium opener after dealing with hip tightness and right shoulder discomfort.

Michael Grove, Kyle Hurt, J.P. Feyereisen and Gus Varland earned bullpen spots. Hurt made a late push for the roster after retiring all seven batters faced in the Dodgers’ 14-3 win over the Kiwoom Heroes.

“I think as far as three days from now, it’s a very good possibility. Yes,” answered manager Dave Roberts when asked if Hurt was likely to be included on the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster for the Seoul Series.

“After that, we’ll make decisions. Nothing is definitive yet, but given the need of the team, his ability to get left and right out, he certainly makes a lot of sense.”

Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto are due to start the two Seoul Series games, respectively. The rest of the Dodgers rotation should include Bobby Miller, James Paxton and Gavin Stone when the team continues their regular season schedule at the end of March.

Stone revealed he was informed by Roberts of making the Dodgers’ Opening Day rotation on Monday.

There are no surprises on the position player side of the Dodgers roster for Opening Day as the group includes two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, among others.
