Blake Snell Apologizes For Expletives, But Encouraged After Pitching To Batters

Blake Snell began the 2026 season on the 15-day injured list because of left shoulder fatigue, but continues to make progress toward a return to the Los Angeles Dodgers rotation.

The left-hander threw a 15-pitch simulated inning at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, which included facing Tommy Edman and Alex Call.

“It’s very big,” Snell said of facing batters for the first time in his recovery. “Especially big league hitters, and I know Tommy getting in there for the first time was big for him. To get feedback is very important. And to see A.C., who I faced every time I pitched against the Nationals. He’s a tough hitter.

“So to be able to face two good hitters, feeling good. I got a lot of work to do still but definitely a big step.”

Snell has been encouraged with his health after changing his diet and integrating Pilates into his training routine.

“I feel great,” Snell said. “I’ve done a lot of different things than I did last year when I was in this position, so I feel way better. I’m very excited with how I feel right now and where I’m at. Getting back to some normalcy again feels really good.”

Snell is expected to throw a few more bullpen sessions and simulated innings before going on a Minor League rehab assignment. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said at the end of Spring Training that he expected the 33-year-old to return to the starting rotation in late May.

Blake Snell apologies for Twitch stream

Snell also took time to apologize for using profanity when responding to a fan who questioned his shoulder injury during a recent Twitch stream.

“I mean, I’m trying to game with my people,” Snell began. “Trolls want to get in there and have something to say. I should watch my language a little bit, but outside of that it was pretty true.

“I’m going to have fun, I’m going to be myself. I’ve got to watch my language though. If my mom sees that … she probably will. I haven’t got the call yet, but it’s probably coming.

“It’s opinions from people I would never listen to for suggestions, so it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t mean I’m not going to have fun with it and troll back. I’ll do that, but I should watch my mouth.”
