With Julio Urías still on administrative leave after getting arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, the Los Angeles Dodgers have continued to distance themselves from the left-hander.

Earlier this month, Urías’ locker in the Dodger Stadium clubhouse was given to Kolten Wong, who recently joined the team when rosters expanded.

The Dodgers then went on to replace the Urías World Baseball Classic bobblehead giveaway that was scheduled for September 21, while jerseys, t-shirts and other merchandise bearing his name and No. 7 were taken out of retail stores and stands throughout Chavez Ravine.

The Dodgers also covered all murals featuring Urías at Dodger Stadium, including the 2020 World Series painting in right field of the loge level that features Mookie Betts, Clayton Kershaw and Justin Turner. The mural has since been updated by artist Jonas Never, with Austin Barnes and Will Smith now taking the place of Urías.

Urías was arrested outside of BMO Stadium on September 3 at the conclusion of a soccer game between the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) and Inter Miami that drew national attention because of Lionel Messi.

Urías was released on a $50,000 bond and has a court date set for September 27. While he has not been charged, his career with the Dodgers likely is over. MLB’s investigation could extend beyond the 2023 season, and Urías is due to become a free agent this winter.

MLB investigation into Julio Urías’ arrest could ‘take some time’

Although the typical stay on administrative leave is seven to 10 days, MLB and the Players Association (MLBPA) can jointly agree to extend it. In Urías’ case, MLB announced his time on the restricted list was indefinite from the beginning.

Because of ongoing investigations by the Los Angeles Police Department and MLB, the Dodgers can do nothing but wait out the process. Manager Dave Roberts acknowledged he does not expect a quick resolution.
