The Atlanta Braves were awarded the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, which will represent the franchise’s fifth time hosting the exhibition event but first at Truist Park.
The Braves previously hosted the All-Star Game in 1972 at Atlanta Stadium, and again in 2000 at Turner Field. The Braves were due to host the 2021 All-Star Game at Truist Park but MLB moved it to Coors Field in response to concerns over a Georgia voting law disproportionately impacting minorities.
The Braves franchise previously hosted the All-Star Game in Boston in 1936, and in Milwaukee in 1955 before moving to Atlanta for the 1966 season.
When the event was played at Atlanta Stadium, Braves icon Hank Aaron hit a two-run home run that helped propel the National League All-Stars to a 4-3 victory. During the 2000 All-Star Game, Derek Jeter went 3-for-3 and earned MVP honors as he led the American League to a 6-3 win.
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game is going to be the league’s 95th Midsummer Classic. Truist Park opened at the start of the 2017 season.
“I commend Terry McGuirk, Derek Schiller, the entire Braves organization and the Atlanta Sports Council for leading this effort,” MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement.
“As a model of success on and off the field, the Braves deserve to host the All-Star Game. Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta will provide fans a world-class experience in 2025. We look forward to working with the Braves and local leaders to deliver a memorable All-Star Week that brings people together and benefits the community in many ways.”
Braves chairman Terry McGuirk added: “We are thrilled that Major League Baseball has awarded the Atlanta Braves the 2025 All-Star Game. Time and time again, Atlanta has proven to be a world-class destination for the most exciting entertainment and sporting events.
“I am excited that baseball fans will have the opportunity to experience Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta along with all this area has to offer. Over the coming months, we look forward to working alongside MLB to create memorable experiences that will showcase and support our community.”
Future MLB All-Star Games
The reigning World Series champion Texas Rangers are due to host the 2024 MLB All-Star Game at Globe Life Field, and after the Braves, the Philadelphia Phillies are going to have the honor in 2026.
The 2026 MLB All-Star Game coincides with the 250th anniversary of American independence. The Phillies previously hosted the All-Star Game at Veterans Stadium in 1976 to commemorate the nation’s bicentennial.
