The Los Angeles Dodgers officially set all their Minor League coaching staffs for 2022, which included also doing so for their Arizona Complex League (AZL) and Dominican Summer League (DSL) teams.
Jair Fernandez returns to the AZL Dodgers as their manager, while Dunior Zerpa and Cordell Hipolito will manage the Dominican Summer League Dodgers.
The Arizona Complex League and Dominican Summer League are the two lowest levels of the Minors but can be very important for getting young players up to speed in professional baseball.
In 2021, the Minor League affiliates recorded a combined .533 winning percentage (353-309), with all seven squads finishing the regular season with a winning record.
The Dodgers were the only National League organization to post winning records by all their affiliates, and were one of four teams in the Majors to accomplish the feat last season along with the Boston Red Sox (seven teams with winning marks), New York Yankees (seven teams) and Seattle Mariners (six teams).
The Dodgers’ .533 winning percentage ranked eighth overall by organization in 2021, finishing behind the Tampa Bay Rays (.623), Yankees (.595), Red Sox (.588), Mariners (.571), Colorado Rockies (.546), Pittsburgh Pirates (.537) and Texas Rangers (.537).
Last season the Dodgers had Justin Bruihl, Josiah Gray, Andre Jackson, Darien Núñez, Edwin Uceta, DJ Peters, Luke Raley and Zach Reks make their MLB debuts. Seven of the eight were originally signed or drafted by the Dodgers
L.A. previously announced Travis Barbary (Triple-A Oklahoma City), Scott Hennessey (Double-A Tulsa), Austin Chubb (High-A Great Lakes) and John Shoemaker (Low-A Rancho Cucamonga) would be returning to manage their respective teams.
