Amed Rosario ‘Very Grateful’ For Cleveland Guardians And Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers were plenty active in advance of the MLB trade deadline on August 1, with their acquisition of Amed Rosario among the early moves completed.

The Dodgers traded Noah Syndergaard along with cash considerations to the Cleveland Guardians for the former top prospect. Syndergaard started against the Dodgers on Tuesday night but Rosario did not yet get an opportunity to face his former team.

Rosario was on-deck at one point to pinch-hit for Michael Busch but was called back to the dugout during the 8-3 loss in the opener of their road trip.

But in being back at Progressive Field, Rosario reflected fondly on his time with the Guardians and also expressed appreciation for the Dodgers, via SportsNet LA:

“It’s really exciting. I feel really good about being here. Obviously, I’m very grateful for the Cleveland organization and everything they did for me. But I’m also grateful for the Los Angeles Dodgers trading for me. It’s just really exciting to be back.”

Rosario further marveled at his talented teammates and being able to make an impact as well:

“It’s been super impressive to be able to be on this team. To be able to play with so many great players, so many superstar players, and to be able to contribute the way that I have has been really great.”

The Dodgers traded for Rosario with a plan to primarily platoon him against left-handed pitching. They also intended for Rosario to play second base and potentially center field as well despite the 27-year-old only having experience at shortstop.

Rosario has been nothing short of impressive in his time with the Dodgers thus far, contributing at the plate and also making a seamless transition to playing second base.

Dave Roberts impressed by Amed Rosario

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has regularly praised Rosario for his quick learning of second base. And during the ninth annual Dodgers All-Access at Dodger Stadium, Roberts took his compliments a step further by considering him among the best on the team in terms of “pure talent.”
