Coming off hip surgery to repair a torn labrum in January 2013, New York Yankees third baseman/designated hitter Alex Rodriguez appeared in only 44 games that season. He was then suspended the entire 2014 season, including any applicable postseason games, for his role in the Biogenesis scandal.
Entering his age-40 season, there was plenty of doubt as to how much Rodriguez would be able to contribute. He went on to appear in 151 games, leading the Yankees in home runs (33) and on-base percentage (.356).
Rodriguez’s 86 RBIs were good for second on the team, trailing only Brian McCann, who drove in 94 runs.
While the Yankees came up short in the American League East race, they hosted the Wild Card game, only to be eliminated by the Houston Astros. Now out of the postseason, Rodriguez officially announced on FOX NFL Sunday he’s joining the network for pregame and postgame coverage of the ALCS and World Series.
The three-time MVP’s tenure with FOX got off to somewhat of a bumpy start as Rodriguez overthrew Jay Glazer and broke a television monitor:

Rodriguez’s first appearance for ALCS coverage is Monday, when FOX begins their pregame show for Game 3 of the ALCS at 4 p.m. PT on FOX Sports 1. The World Series begins Tuesday, Oct. 27.
