The Los Angeles Dodgers partnered with General Mills to host a Back-to-School Resource Fair at Dodger Stadium over the weekend for 500 Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) students and their families.

Attendees received backpacks, essential school supplies, non-perishable pantry food items, and complimentary dental screenings were available courtesy of UCLA Health, a longtime Dodgers partner.

AM 570 L.A. Sports, Archer Meat Snacks, King’s Hawaiian, Coca Cola and PRIME provided additional items and resources in support of the Dodgers’ initiatives. Families were provided lunch courtesy of Fresh Brothers.

“Back-to-school preparation is more than just buying supplies—it’s about setting the stage for confidence, curiosity, and connection,” Dodgers vice president of government and community affairs Kristin McCowan said. “When children feel ready, they walk into the classroom not just equipped but empowered and the Dodgers are proud to be able to contribute to that through this event.”

Jack Dreyer, Alex Freeland, Luis Cruz, Dennis Powell and Ken Landreaux were among those on hand to help distribute items and interact with students.

Vanessa Bryant and her daughter, Natalia, also were present on behalf of the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation.

The Bryants provided attendees with the Nike Kobe 6 protro Dodgers shoe that was highly coveted and immediately sold out upon release. They previously were at Dodger Stadium on Friday night for the Kobe Bryant bobblehead giveaway.

“One thing that the Dodgers do better than other organizations is they have a connection with the crowd and fanbase in L.A. To be able to be part of giving back is really special,” Dreyer said.

“Growing up, going back to school was always one of my favorite times as a kid. Picking out what to wear, getting a haircut, getting all the school supplies. So to be able to watch all these kids get excited was pretty special.”

Dreyer and Freeland posed for pictures with fans alongside the 2024 World Series trophy.

“It’s truly a blessing. We’re fortunate enough to be in a spot where we can give back to the community,” Freeland said. “It’s a blessing to come out here and do something so small, like take pictures and hand out backpacks. Anything we can do to help, it’s a blessing.”

Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Legacy Scholars

Last week, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation recognized 10 Legacy Scholars during a ceremony and special visit to Dodger Stadium.

Dodgers broadcaster Stephen Nelson and Anthony Banda accompanied the LADF in the celebration of the students, who each received a $10,000 scholarship, custom jersey, new Apple MacBook and a backpack. The day’s festivities also included a networking session, tour of Dodger Stadium and on-field recognition before first pitch.
