Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman have formed arguably the most potent one-two punch in baseball this season, and their impact was on full display during the weekend series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Betts and Freeman were key to the Dodgers earning a 7-4 comeback win in the series opener, and the pair of All-Stars also reached base multiple times in the team’s loss on Saturday.

Betts and Freeman continued to shine in the series finale as they collected three hits each. Betts most notably tied a career high with his 35th home run of the season, and Freeman hit his 50th double that set a new L.A. Dodgers single-season franchise record.

After dropping two of three games to the Dodgers, Red Sox manager Alex Cora offered high praise for the dynamic duo of Betts and Freeman, per Juan Toribio of MLB.com:

“They dominate the game,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said of the Betts and Freeman duo. “Freddie has been locked in and Mookie is getting on base. It’s instant offense, it seems like, in two pitches, because Freddie is swinging and he has, what, 50 doubles. They’re tough. They’re a tough team.”

Betts went 7-for-15 with two doubles, one home run, four RBI and a walk in three games against his former Red Sox team. He entered play Monday hitting a stellar .315/.407/.611 with 36 doubles, 35 home runs, 93 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 123 games this season.

Freeman collected four hits in 13 at-bats against the Red Sox, including three doubles, and additionally drew two walks during the three-game series. He is batting .341/.417/.581 with 50 doubles, 23 home runs, 86 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 129 games this year.

Mookie Betts: Wouldn’t trade time with Dodgers ‘for the world’

While Betts enjoyed returning to Fenway Park for the first time in nearly four years and looked back fondly on his memories with the Red Sox, he has thoroughly embraced being part of the Dodgers organization.
