The commitments for Team USA have continued to roll in this week since it was announced Clayton Kershaw was joining the roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
That since has been followed by Alex Bregman announcing his intention to participate in the international tournament, and Brad Keller also was named to Team USA.
For Bregman, it marks a second time playing in the WBC. He was on Team USA in 2017 as a bench player, going 2-for-4 with a walk. Bregman was the youngest player on the United States roster at 23 years old.

Since that time he’s gone on to win multiple World Series titles, though one of which is clouded in controversy due to the Houston Astros’ cheating scandal. News of Bregman’s intent to join Team USA this year was shared during his introductory press conference with the Chicago Cubs.
Bregman and Ernie Clement are the third basemen currently on the Team USA roster, which will be finalized in early February.
Meanwhile, Keller looks to bolster the bullpen group after a strong season with the Cubs. The right-hander pitched to a 2.07 ERA over 68 appearances, and went on to sign a two-year, $22 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies this offseason.
Keller has experience as a starting pitcher but became a full-time reliever last year.
Team USA in WBC
The United States are in Pool B for the 2026 WBC, which is scheduled for March 5-17, 2026. Team USA is looking to bounce back after losing to Japan in the 2023 championship game.
