Aaron Judge Not Planning Lawsuit Against Dodgers For Toe Injury

Coming off a historic season in which he broke Roger Maris’ American League home run record, New York Yankees All-Star Aaron Judge was off to another stellar start this year before tearing a ligament in his right toe during a matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 3.

Judge took a hit away from J.D. Martinez by making a spectacular running catch in deep right field. But it came at a significant cost as Judge’s momentum carried him into the bullpen gate, which broke open in the wrong direction with the impact.

Judge briefly limped and grimaced after throwing the ball back into the infield but remained in the game. However, he did not play in the series finale and shortly after was placed on the 10-day injured list.

When asked if he would consider filing a lawsuit against the Dodgers, Judge was clear what his intentions are, via Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News:

“Nah, no need,” Judge said when asked about a potential lawsuit.

Despite initial optimism surrounding Judge’s toe injury, he wound up missing seven weeks. Judge’s injury place further stress on a Yankees team that already was fighting to remain in the postseason picture.

The 31-year-old also is yet to find a rhythm at the plate since coming off the 10-day IL. Judge is hitless in six of nine games thus far, including each of the last four.

Dodger Stadium changes in response to Aaron Judge injury

Days after Judge’s injury, Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten said the team would reinforce the Dodger Stadium fence by adding a strip of padding on the concrete portion.

Kasten added the team also planned to put padding on the concrete portion in front of the home bullpen in left field. Those changes have since been implemented.
