Needing a spot starter in Sunday’s series finale, the Los Angeles Dodgers placed Scott Baker on the 40-man roster and activated him. Additionally, Carlos Frias was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

In corresponding roster moves, the Dodgers placed Joel Peralta (dead arm) and Yasiel Puig (left hamstring strain) on the 15-day disabled list, and transferred relief pitcher Brandon League to the 60-day DL. Puig recently battled a hamstring issue that forced him to miss three games.

He returned April 18, then sat out the following game due to lingering soreness in the hamstring. Puig came up lame in the sixth inning Friday night as he attempted to beat out a grounder to Will Middlebrooks.

The Dodgers announced after the game he re-aggravated the left hamstring and was considered day-to-day. Puig did not play Saturday. Peralta’s dead arm is an issue he believes stems from the back spasms he suffered earlier in the year.

Baker signed a Minor-League contract with the Dodgers this month, and went 1-1 with a 1.06 ERA over three starts with Oklahoma City. He appeared in 25 games (eight starts) last season with the Texas Rangers, posting a 5.47 ERA in 80.2 innings while primarily being used as a reliever.

Baker pitched in four games (two starts) with the New York Yankees during Spring Training before getting released. Frias joins the Dodgers a second time this season; he was recalled on April 15, but didn’t appear in the game and was optioned to Triple-A the next day.

Frias was 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA and had 15 strikeouts in 12.2 innings (two starts) for Oklahoma City.
