Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Yasiel Puig was involved in an altercation with a bouncer at a Miami bar on Wednesday night.

It was reported that Puig got into an altercation with staff at Blue Martini after they attempted to get involved in a heated discussion between Puig and his sister.

Upon escorting Puig out of the bar, a scuffle broke out that left the 24 year old with bruises on his face and the bouncer with a busted lip.

According to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times, Puig stated he acted out of self defense, however the surveillance footage reviewed by the Miami Police Department doesn’t support that claim:

Puig told Miami PD he punched bouncer in self-defense, claiming bouncer punched him 1st and was expecting bouncer to punch him again. (1/2)

Miami PD saw surveillance footage of Puig punching the bouncer, but no footage of the bouncer punching Puig. (2/2)

Puig has been the center of trade rumors this offseason as ownership reportedly has grown more open to moving the enigmatic right fielder. Moreover, Andy Van Slyke implied Clayton Kershaw suggested to the front office that they trade Puig.

While neither Puig nor the bouncer are pressing charges over the incident, Puig will be investigated by Major League Baseball and is subject to penalties handed down by commissioner Rob Manfred under the revamped domestic violence policy.
