Dodger Stadium Voting Center Among Most Visited In Los Angeles County

The Los Angeles Dodgers utilizing Dodger Stadium as a polling location for the 2020 Presidential general election amounted to record foot traffic as it was the highest performing vote center in the county over a five-day span.

The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s Office additionally specified that Dodger Stadium also ranked third in the county when compared to their Norwalk headquarters and San Dimas City Hall, which were open for 30 and 11 days, respectively.

Dodger Stadium opened its doors as a polling location on Oct. 30 and remained an option through the evening of Election Day. The site was an option for all registered voters in L.A. County and also served as a drop-off location for mail-in ballots.

To remain compliant with L.A. County and CDC guidelines, the Dodgers installed temporary voting booths on the Top Deck that were safely spaced apart. Foot traffic moved through separate entrances and exits, face coverings were required at all times and voters were provided with hand sanitizer.

Chavez Ravine being converted for a civic purpose was a byproduct of David Price and the Dodgers collaborating with LeBron James and his More Than A Vote initiative.

“Winning takes collaboration, and that’s exactly what we’re seeing between Los Angeles County and professional sports here in LA,” Price said in a statement at the time it was announced.

“We may not be able to play in front of our fans this year, but we can do our part to provide a core civic function and make sure that Angelenos can safely vote this fall.

“By becoming the first Major League Baseball team to convert our stadium into a vote center, the Dodgers are handing a blueprint to teams across MLB that can be used to make a very real difference in the lives of their fans.”

Dodgers Holiday Festival

As Dodger Stadium continues to be the site of daily coronavirus (COVID-19) testing, it also is set to host a Dodgers Holiday Festival. Tickets are required (one per car) and must be purchased in advance.
