Rockies Vs. Dodgers Game Preview: Final Road Series Begins

The Los Angeles Dodgers are in the final leg of a stretch that was heavy on National League West opponents as they face the Colorado Rockies to start their load road series of the regular season.

Fresh off taking two of three from the San Diego Padres, the Dodgers hold a 3.5-game lead in the NL West standings. The Dodgers suffered their first series loss this season when they last faced the Rockies — from Sept. 4-6 at Dodger Stadium.

However, the Rockies are just 4-6 in their past 10 games and sit two games out of the playoff picture. They’ll look to find success against Julio Urias, who allowed four runs on five hits in just 4.1 innings during a start against the Rockies earlier this season.

Urias is 0-1 with a 6.29 ERA in nine career games (six starts) against Colorado. He’s struggled at Coors Field, pitching to a 7.71 ERA in five games.

He’s opposed by Kyle Freeland, who makes a 12th career start against the Dodgers. Freeland is 2-4 with a 4.29 ERA in those games, including a 2-2 mark at 4.56 ERA when facing L.A. at home.

AJ Pollock (hamstring tightness) is out of the lineup but available to pinch-hit. The Dodgers lineup otherwise features usual starters against a left-handed pitcher. Justin Turner is again the designated hitter as the Dodgers ease him back from a strained left hamstring.

Aside from Pollock’s absence and Turner not playing the field, the Dodgers lineup is otherwise what manager Dave Roberts anticipates for the postseason. “Each day I want it to be more and more what we want it to look like,” Roberts said.

“This is obviously a left-handed pitcher, so to have Chris in there, Kiké in there, Will behind the plate, it looks right.”
