Dodgers Fans Boo Astros Outside Dodger Stadium

The Los Angeles Dodgers welcomed the Houston Astros to town for a two-game series, although obviously due to coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions, fans were not allowed inside Dodger Stadium.

If they would have been, there is no doubt Dodgers fans would have let the Astros hear it after they were found guilty this past offseason of electronically stealing signs during their 2017 World Series run.

The Dodgers and Astros met in that Fall Classic, of course, with Houston going on to win in seven games, depriving L.A. fans of celebrating their first championship since 1988.

Everything seemed to be going well for the Dodgers in the series opener on Saturday evening as they took a 5-2 lead into the ninth inning. But Kenley Jansen had his worst performance of the season, and the Astros were able to come back and earn a 7-5 victory. It marked the Dodgers’ first loss to the Astros in three games this season.

Before the game, Dodgers fans still wanted to let the Astros players how they feel about them, so a group set up outside of Dodger Stadium with signs to boo Houston when their team bus entered the stadium, via Asterisk Tour on Twitter:

“I loved it,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “I think they have every right to do whatever they feel to express their feelings. I thought it was great. It just shows the passion the Dodger fans have.”

While it is unfortunate that the Dodgers could not come away with the victory on Saturday, they are still sitting comfortably in the National League postseason picture with the best record in baseball at 32-14, while the Astros are fighting for the final postseason in the American League at 23-23.

In addition to the fans outside of Dodger Stadium before the game, there also was an airplane fly over with a message for the Astros.

Dodger fans may not get the chance to boo the Astros inside Dodger Stadium this season, but it is clear they are still finding creative ways to send a message.
