The Los Angeles Dodgers returned home after a successful road trip and continued their winning ways, defeating the San Francisco Giants, 7-2, in the opener of a three-game series at Dodger Stadium.

Mookie Betts missed all three games against the San Diego Padres earlier in the week due to a finger injury, and he returned to the field Friday night and picked up right where he left off before the swelling issue.

Betts reached base three times on the night, including a double in the first inning. Betts’ big swing came in the third inning when he slugged a solo home run to tie the game. The home run was Betts’ third of the season and first at Dodger Stadium as a member of the team.

Max Muncy then got in on the action in the fourth inning with a solo home run of his own to give the Dodgers the lead and break out of a mini-slump. He now has four home runs on the year to lead the team.

The Dodgers were able to break the game open a bit in that fourth inning, adding two more runs after that Muncy homer. Chris Taylor reached on a single and then Will Smith drove him in with a two-run shot, his second of the season.

Edwin Rios capped the night off with a home run of his own in the bottom of the eighth, a solo shot to lead off the inning. He now has three on the season and seven in his young career, although this was the first at Dodger Stadium.

Urias struggles to pitch deep into game

Julio Urias made his third start of the season and although he was able to prevent runs, the southpaw failed to pitch deep into the game.

Urias only lasted four innings, requiring 78 pitches while allowing three hits and a run, striking out and walking two.

Despite not being able to pick up the win, Urias lowered his season ERA to an impressive 2.40. The bullpen was also excellent in relief of the lefty, as they have been all season, to complete the victory.
