The Los Angeles Dodgers have reported to Dodger Stadium for Summer Camp in preparation for the 2020 season, leaving host Jeff Spiegel and DodgerBlue.com senior writer/editor Daniel Starkand plenty to talk about on this week’s episode of “DodgerHeads.”

The big news of the week was Dodgers starter David Price deciding to opt out of the 2020 season due to health concerns for him and his family. Spiegel and Stark discussed Price’s decision and why fans should respect it, as well as who some potential replacements are in the rotation.

Another big topic of conversation was the 2020 Major League Baseball schedule that was released on Monday afternoon. Among the notable games for the Dodgers is hosting the San Francisco Giants for four games in the Opening Series before traveling to take on the Houston Astros in a 2017 World Series rematch.

While the season will be abbreviated to 60 games in 2020, the Dodgers still will have plenty of traveling to do, which raised some questions for the schedule makers from Spiegel and Starkand.

With so much uncertainty still surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, especially in baseball with the lack of test results this week, it is fair to question why MLB is making teams travel so much when there are simpler solutions, as discussed in the episode.

Finally, Spiegel and Starkand concluded by discussing a number of miscellaneous topics including the 2020 All-Star Game being cancelled and Dodger Stadium being awarded the 2022 game, Jimmy Nelson going down with a season-ending back injury, L.A. signing Clayton Beeter to complete its 2020 Draft class and adding him and a few others to their 60-man player pool, among others.

With the Dodgers beginning intrasquad games this week, there should be some actual baseball to discuss on next week’s show for the first time in months.
