The Los Angeles Dodgers were prominently featured in Baseball America’s top 100 prospects list for the 2020 season, headlined by Gavin Lux’s inclusion at No. 4 overall.
He was one of six Dodgers prospects to make the cut, along with Dustin May (No. 22), Brusdar Graterol (66), Keibert Ruiz (90), Tony Gonsolin (91) and Josiah Gray (93).
Lux is coming off a historic 2019 season in which he hit a combined .347/.421/.607 with 25 doubles, eight triples, 26 home runs and 76 RBI between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City.
He earned a promotion to the Majors in September and went on to post a .705 on-base plus slugging in 23 regular-season games. Lux didn’t stop there, as he was included on the Dodgers’ National League Division Series roster and homered in his first postseason at-bat.
May navigated a path similar to that of Lux, also beginning the 2019 season with the Drillers before joining Oklahoma City and eventually making his MLB debut. He went 2-3 with a 3.63 ERA in 34.2 innings for the Dodgers, primarily pitching out of the bullpen.
Graterol, acquired from the Minnesota Twins in February, made his MLB debut last season, making 10 relief appearances and collecting 10 strikeouts over 9.2 innings pitched.
Ruiz split time with Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City before a broken finger ended his season in July. His numbers dipped from the previous year, but he still considered a top-10 catching prospect by many pundits heading into 2020.
Gonsolin was one of eight Dodgers rookies that debuted last season. He thrived in both the starting rotation and bullpen, compiling a 4-2 record, 2.93 ERA, 3.86 FIP and 1.03 WHIP over 40 innings pitched.
The 2019 season marked Gray’s first in the Dodgers organization after being acquired from the Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed a breakout season, posting a collective 2.28 ERA and 0.99 WHIP with 147 strikeouts while splitting time between three affiliates.
Lux, May, Graterol, Ruiz, Gonsolin and Gray were included on the Dodgers’ initial 51-player pool, which has since expanded to 52 following the reported signing of former All-Star reliever AJ Ramos.
