Despite uncertainty hovering over the 2020 Major League Baseball season, there are a multitude of topics to discuss, involving the sport as a whole and Los Angeles Dodgers specifically. As such, DodgerBlue.com has rebranded its online show and launched “DodgerHeads.”
The second episode featured host Jeff Spiegel and DodgerBlue.com senior writer/editor Daniel Starkand.
The first topic of discussion surrounded Justin Turner’s proposal for MLB to implement a home run derby in place of extra innings in 2020 in order to save pitching staffs with potential doubleheaders needed to get a full season in.
Turner’s proposal included playing a normal 10th inning, but if the game were to still remain tied, he argued for a selection of three players from each team and a home run derby to ensue.
The “DodgerHeads” discussion continued with MLB potentially playing the entire 2020 season in Arizona with players quarantined when not on the field.
While it may not seem feasible at the moment, only time will tell if a month or two from now it is safe enough to return to the field. Health is the most important thing, of course, so plenty will need to happen in the country in the coming weeks for this to be a real possibility.
Finally, Jeff and Daniel concluded with a Dodgers draft of players from 2000 on that also included DodgerBlue.com managing editor Matthew Moreno, as well as a “Tip of the Cap” to doctors, grocery store workers, teachers and others who have been a huge help during this tough time.
The initiative was started by AM 570 LA Sports in order to give appreciation to the people working endless hours to help the country get through the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
