The Los Angeles Dodgers made another round of Spring Training roster cuts — and their largest yet — following Sunday’s loss to the Texas Rangers, as seven players were sent to Minor League camp.

Josh Sborz was optioned, and Tyler Gilbert, Kyle Lobstein, Marshall Kasowski, Jordan Sheffield, Stevie Berman and Cristian Santana were reassigned. The Dodgers have 51 players remaining in big league camp at Camelback Ranch.

Victor Gonzalez and Mitchell White were previously optioned, and Josiah Gray and Edwin Uceta were reassigned.

Berman has only received two at-bats in his two games, and remains hitless. The Dodgers have understandably prioritized playing time for fellow catchers Austin Barnes, Keibert Ruiz and Will Smith.

The Dodgers acquired Gilbert last month in exchange for Kyle Garlick, who was designated for assignment in order to clear room on the 40-man roster following trades with the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins.

Gilbert has allowed four runs on five hits in 2.1 innings pitched over three Cactus League appearances this year.

Kasowski has impressed in 5.1 innings, surrendering just four hits and collecting seven strikeouts against three walks in seven games.

Lobstein has only allowed two runs (one earned) across four innings over three appearances this year.

Santana has received time both at first base and third, amounting to 12 games played thus far. He’s impressed in those opportunities, collecting seven hits in 20 at-bats, including one double, one triple and an RBI.

Sborz has allowed three runs in 3.2 innings across four games. The right-hander made his MLB debut last season and went on to appear in seven games for the Dodgers.

Sheffield, who was left unprotected but wasn’t taken in the 2019 Rule 5 Draft, has also pitched in four games this spring. Sheffield has allowed three runs on five hits in 3.2 innings.
