The Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) and Smart & Final are again partnering to host a 15th annual Community Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway at Dodger Stadium on Thursday.
California state senator Maria Elena Durazo, Kyle Garlick, Joc Pederson, and former Dodgers Kenny Landreaux and Dennis Powell will be among those on hand to assist volunteers in distributing a complimentary turkey (or vegetarian alternative), fixings and reusable canvas bags to pre-selected families and not-for-profit community organizations who will in turn distribute them to Los Angeles-area families in need.
Turkeys and fixings are also being provided to pre-selected students in the Dodgers’ “Community of Schools,” which a strategic community partnership to improve the education and wellness of children attending local schools (all Title I) and living in communities surrounding Dodger Stadium.
Beneficiaries of the program also include the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation’s Dodgers RBI community partners and nonprofit grantees who are focused on providing educational resources and support for low-income and food-insecure youth: Sowing Seeds for Life, Bresee Foundation, A Place Called Home, Minds Matter, Proyecto Pastoral, Para Los Niños, L.A. Boys and Girls Club, Boys and Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley, and YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles.

City councilmember Mitch O’Farrell for the turkey giveaway, with each office selecting organizations in its district to benefit.
While the 2019 season ended in disappointment, players and the Dodgers as a whole have remained committed to providing for those in need. Justin Turner and his wife Kourtney recently participated in the AM 570 radiothon for veterans and made an appearance at Pink’s Hot Dogs.
Clayton Kershaw and his wife Ellen hosted the annual Kershaw’s Challenge KC Live in Dallas, raising more than $1 million. Walker Buehler used his charity golf tournament to raise funds for the “Field of Genes” campaign Rich Hill started in memory of his late son.
And this week, the LADF and Kenley Jansen Foundation unveiled two new “Kenley’s Locker” at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital.
