Last November the Los Angeles Dodgers received an invitation from President Donald Trump to visit the White House in recognition of their 2025 World Series win.
“Congratulations to the L.A. Dodgers, a game won by incredible CHAMPIONS!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social at the time. “A lesser group of men would never have been able to win that game, or game 6, for that matter. So many stars made it all happen. Also, congratulations to ownership. What a great job they have done. SEE YOU ALL AT THE WHITE HOUSE!!!”
While the Dodgers accepted the invitation, their return to the White House after visiting in 2025 did not line up with the team’s road series against the Washington Nationals during the first weekend of April.
When are Dodgers going to the White House?
Now three months later, the Dodgers are scheduled to be celebrated by President Trump and more politicians inside the East Room on Thursday, July 23, according to Edward Lewis of the California Post.
The team will visit the White House on July 23 during an off day between a three-game series against the Phillies and a three-game set with the Mets on an East Coast road trip, a White House official told The Post.
“President Trump is excited to welcome the Los Angeles Dodgers BACK to the White House to celebrate their World Series championship!” White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers said in a statement.
A trip to the White House has long been tradition for championship teams from the North American sports leagues. The 1924 Washington Senators were MLB’s first World Series champion to visit the White House.
But the Dodgers’ visit in 2025 and pending trip this year has been met by pushback from some segments of the fanbase. Furthermore, Mookie Betts took time last season to mull over whether or not he would accompany the Dodgers during their White House visit.
Betts ultimately decided to join his teammates in order to avoid becoming a distraction from their accomplishment of defeating the New York Yankees in the World Series.
Only Freddie Freeman, who had just been put on the injured list with a sprained right ankle and did not travel with the team, and Brusdar Graterol, a Venezuelan native, were not with the Dodgers at the White House in 2025. Clayton Kershaw delivered a speech in Freeman’s place.
