2026 MLB All-Star Game: Ernie Clement & Shohei Ohtani Voted Starters

The Los Angeles Dodgers are guaranteed to have at least one starter in the 2026 MLB All-Star Game as Shohei Ohtani led all players in voting through Phase 1.

Toronto Blue Jays’ Ernie Clement led all American League players in fan voting and thus bypassed Phase 2 as well. Ohtani and Clement were tracking to earn starting spots in this year’s All-Star Game at the latest update earlier this week.

The top overall vote-getter in each league automatically earns a starting spot in the All-Star Game, while the rest of the finalists compete in the second round. If an outfielder is a league’s top vote-getter, Phase 2 of voting at the position still takes place to determine the remaining two starters among the next four outfield finalists.

All of the 2026 MLB All-Star Game starters and full team rosters will be revealed on Saturday, July 4, at 4:30 p.m. on Fox.

Shohei Ohtani leads in voting

While Ohtani has now earned a sixth career All-Star Game selection and each of them consecutively, this year marks the first time he did so as the leading vote-getter. Ohtani closed the first round with 3,341,257 total votes.

He previously paced the AL in voting in 2023 and National League last season. New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge led all players in 2025 All-Star Game voting.

Ohtani joined Davey Lopes (1980) and Cody Bellinger (2019) as Dodgers players to lead the Majors in All-Star Game voting since balloting was returned to the fans in 1970.

Moreover, Ohtani extended his All-Star Game record by earning a sixth consecutive fan election at the designated hitter spot. Prior to his current streak, no player had been the starting DH in an All-Star Game for more than three years in a row.

As a team, the Dodgers have produced the starting DH for the NL All-Star roster since 2023 when they were represented by J.D. Martinez.

Dodgers advance as All-Star Game finalists

The Dodgers are in position to have multiple All-Star starters this year as Will Smith, Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Mookie Betts, Andy Pages and Teoscar Hernández advanced to the second round of voting.

Freeman, Muncy and Pages are each in position to be voted the starter, just like they were at the two previous updates. Smith is a distant second to the Atlanta Braves’ Drake Baldwin, while Betts has closed the gap on CJ Abrams of the Washington Nationals.

Pages is the top vote-getter among NL outfielders, while Hernández is currently fourth. Hernández has 1,569,932 votes, which trails Braves’ Ronald Acuña Jr. (1,723,945) for third place and thus a starting spot.
