Dodgers Place Brock Stewart On Injured List, Blake Snell Activated

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Brock Stewart on the 15-day injured list as the corresponding move to activate Blake Snell ahead of Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Braves.

Stewart is back on the IL a mere three days after coming off it. He was not available to begin the season because of having right shoulder surgery late last year.

Stewart completed a lengthy rehab assignment seemingly without issue. It’s not clear how long the bone spur may have been present, similar to what unfolded with Edwin Díaz before he ultimately required right elbow surgery to remove loose bodies.

While on his rehab assignment, Stewart logged 6.1 scoreless innings and struck out 13 batters over eight appearances. That included pitching on back-to-back days from April 29-30, which the Dodgers view as an important checkpoint for a reliever looking to return.

Stewart threw two scoreless inning across two appearances for the Dodgers before landing back on the injured list. He pitched in only four games for the team last season after getting acquired from the Minnesota Twins at the trade deadline.

Blake Snell bobblehead night

Snell is on the Dodgers roster for the first time this season after beginning the year unavailable because of left shoulder fatigue. That stemmed from pushing through a recurrence of shoulder inflammation during the postseason that Snell first dealt with early in 2025.

He originally was scheduled to make a fourth — and presumably final — rehab start on Saturday. But Glasnow’s back injury prompted the Dodgers to have Snell return rather than pitch for Single-A Ontario.

“You kind of layer in the Blake Snell situation and try to figure out if he’s open to taking the five innings here versus on rehab, and he couldn’t be more excited to do that,” manager Dave Roberts said.

Snell’s rehab assignment came to a close at four runs allowed (three earned), and 10 strikeouts against just two walks in eight innings over three starts. He pitched once for the Tower Buzzers and made two starts for the Comets.

With Snell taking the mound on Saturday, it’s resulting in Roki Sasaki having his start pushed back. Justin Wrobleski remains the Dodgers’ probable for Sunday and thus Sasaki is not expected to pitch until the series opener against the San Francisco Giants.

Snell’s season debut coincidentally lines up with his bobblehead giveaway at Dodger Stadium. The Blake Snell bobblehead is part of the “Starter Series” in which the Dodgers are celebrating the collective performance of their rotation throughout the 2025 postseason.
