Recap: Andy Pages Hits 3 Home Runs In Dodgers’ Rout Vs. Astros

After dropping consecutive series, the Los Angeles Dodgers had a chance to get back to their winning ways in a rubber match against the Houston Astros.

They did exactly that with an offensive outburst and strong pitching, but not everything was great as Tyler Glasnow exited the game with a back injury. Still, the Dodgers ended their road trip on a high note as they now head home.

Dodgers 12, Astros 2: key takeaways

Andy Pages leads offense

The Dodgers scored 12 runs on 14 hits, three of which were home runs from Andy Pages. The center fielder finished the day with six RBI and three runs scored as he accounted for half of their offense in the blowout win.

The three-homer game was a career-first for Pages. He and Max Muncy are the only players to hit three home runs in a game this season. Pages additionally set single-game career highs with six RBI and 12 total bases.

In addition, Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and Alex Freeland all drove in a run. Ohtani also snapped an 0-for-18 hitless slump by picking up two hits in the game.

Kyle Tucker had an impactful day as well, reaching base three times and scoring two runs. All the Dodgers starting players tallied a hit except for Teoscar Hernández, who went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

Although the bats were hitting all game, the Dodgers scored their first three runs on wild pitches from Lance McCullers Jr. that tied the game, gave them the lead, and ultimately became the winning run.

Tyler Glasnow milestone & injury

Glasnow allowed a leadoff homer to start his night, and then followed that up by striking out Yordan Alvarez. That was the 1,000th strikeout of his career, and he became the fastest pitcher in history to reach that mark with just 793 innings needed.

He ended up pitching a scoreless first, but did not return for the second. While warming up for the inning, Glasnow motioned to the dugout, and after a quick conversation with manager Dave Roberts and the trainers, he exited the game.

The Dodgers announced Glasow left the game with low back tightness.

Dodgers bullpen limits Astros

The Dodgers needed their bullpen to throw eight innings, and thankfully, they have a day off on Thursday. But the bullpen still stepped up and did their job.

Jack Dreyer and Edgardo Henriquez each pitched two scoreless innings before Kyle Hurt added one of his own. That got them into the seventh inning with an 11-1 lead.

Blake Treinen then allowed a run in the seventh, but it was ultimatley irrelevant for the club given their big lead. Tanner Scott worked a scoreless eighth and Brock Stewart pitched the ninth.

Stewart was just activated before the game after beginning the year on the IL, and he worked a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.
