Recap: Justin Wrobleski Dominates Mets, Andy Pages Ties For Dodgers Lead In Home Runs

Justin Wrobleski shut the New York Mets down and the Los Angeles Dodgers got back in the win column in the opener of their three-game series.

The Dodgers continue to lead baseball in wins at 12-4, with two more than the next-closest teams: San Diego Padres, Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins.

Monday was Hello Kitty Night at Dodger Stadium, which drew a sold-out crowd of 52,838 announced attendance. It represented the Dodgers’ sixth home sellout of the season.

Dodgers 4, Mets 0: key takeaways

Andy Pages still going

Andy Pages did not repeat as National League Player of the Week, but he continued with what’s been an impressive season. Pages’ three-run homer in the third inning extended the Dodgers’ lead to 4-0.

With that he became the first player to 20 RBI this season and tied Shohei Ohtani for the team lead with five home runs.

Shohei Ohtani’s streak

Ohtani was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the first inning, which prevented him from joining a rare group in MLB history but extended his on-base streak to 47 games.

That’s tied with Ron Cey for the second-longest on-base streak in Los Angeles franchise history. Shawn Green holds that record at 53 games. Duke Snider’s 58 games is the longest on-base streak in overall Dodgers history.

Had Ohtani hit a home run, he would’ve become just the fourth player to do so in three consecutive games since 1900. Instead, only Brady Anderson (four in 1996), Ronald Acuña Jr. (2018) and Alex Verdugo (2023) have accomplished the feat.

Justin Wrobleski dominates

Wrobleski turned in the best start of his career with eight scoreless innings. He had a perfect game until a Jorge Polanco chopper beat the Dodgers’ shift for a one-out single in the fifth inning.

That was followed by a double play, and kept Wrobleski to facing the minimum. Polanco’s single was all the Mets had against the left-hander until Francisco Alvarez’s two-out base hit in the eighth inning.

Prior to his impressive outing against the Mets, Wrobleski’s longest start at the Major League was six innings, which he achieved twice last season. Wrobleki’s longest outing as a professional previously was seven innings, done twice while in the Minor Leagues (for Double-A Tulsa in 2024 and Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2025).

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts recently said the team needed length out of Wrobleski and Roki Sasaki at the backend of the rotation.
