Recap: Andy Pages And Max Muncy Power Dodgers To Walk-Off Win

Andy Pages continued to swing a hot bat but it was Max Muncy who guaranteed the Los Angeles Dodgers again proved capable of a comeback in their win over the Texas Rangers.

In addition to Pages having a big night, Shohei Ohtani extended his on-base streak to 44 games, breaking a tie with Ichiro Suzuki to become the record holder for a Japanese-born player.

Muncy’s walk-off home run gave the Dodgers their MLB-leading sixth comeback win.

Dodgers 8, Rangers 7: key takeaways

Corey Seager returns

Playing in just his second game at Dodger Stadium since signing with the Rangers in free agency, Seager again hit a home run against his former team. His three-run blast off Tyler Glasnow in the third inning gave the Rangers a 3-2 lead.

Seager went 1-for-3 with three-run homer in his first game as a visitor at Dodger Stadium in 2024.

Andy Pages’ hot hitting

In the midst of a strong start to the season that earned National League Player of the Week honors, Pages produced his eighth multi-hit game of the season. It’s the most such performances by any player so far in 2026.

Pages’ second hit of the night was a two-run double in the sixth inning that gave the Dodgers their decided lead. Pages added a two-run homer in the eighth but it wound up being squandered. His four RBI tied a career high.

Edwin Díaz blows save

Díaz entered with a 7-4 lead and promptly saw it slip away. Joc Pederson used an ABS challenge to overturn a strikeout call, and led off the ninth inning with a single.

Evan Carter followed with a two-run home run, and Ezequiel Duran’s two-out RBI single tied the game. The blown save was Díaz’s first with the Dodgers.

Max Muncy’s place in franchise history

Seager’s blast on Friday was just enough to help the Rangers initially hold off Muncy doing his best to carry the Dodgers. Muncy’s solo home run in the second inning gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead, and his second long ball of the night cut their deficit to a run.

That gave 212 home runs with the Dodgers, breaking a tie with Steve Garvey for third place in Los Angeles franchise history. Muncy’s home run total ranks sixth in overall Dodgers history.

Moreover, it was the 20th multi-homer game for Muncy, which broke a tie with Mike Piazza for fourth-most in Dodgers franchise history.

Muncy provided more fireworks in the bottom of the ninth inning with his third solo home run. It marked Muncy’s fourth career walk-off homer and second career three-home run game.

Duke Snider is the all-time Dodgers home run leader with 389.

Tyler Glasnow’s start

Glasnow took the mound in the series opener as a result of being flipped in the rotation order with Sheehan. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts explained it stemmed from Glasnow’s preference to be on a shorter schedule.

The right-hander was sharp early but ultimately hurt by surrendering multiple home runs that came with two strikes and two outs in the inning. The first was Seager’s go-ahead homer in the third inning, and Wyatt Langford answered Muncy’s second solo shot with one of his own in the fifth.

Glasnow wound up throwing 100 pitches and allowed four runs over six innings.
