Dodger Stadium Opening Day Tickets Sold For Record Prices

There is plenty of excitement surrounding the Los Angeles Dodgers as they look to become MLB’s first three-peat champion since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees.

For fans who attended the Dodger Stadium opener on Thursday, seeing the action in person did not come cheaply.

According to TickPick, the average ticket price to watch the Dodgers face the Arizona Diamondbacks on Opening Day set an MLB stadium record of $392, via Bill Shaikin of the L.A. Times:

From TickPick: The average ticket price to the Dodgers' home opener right now is $392. That's the most expensive regular season game on record, for a game played in an MLB stadium.

(The price was higher for the 2022 Field of Dreams game, where capacity was 8,000.)

The only MLB game with a higher average ticket price on record was a matchup between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds in 2022. It was played at the iconic Iowa cornfield used in the “Field of Dreams” movie, which has a capacity of 8,000.

The day before the game, the cheapest ticket for sale to get into Dodger Stadium on Opening Day was $196. That surpasses the $119 ticket price it cost to watch the San Francisco Giants play the New York Yankees at Oracle Park on Wednesday night.

Thursday also marked the start of festivities at Dodger Stadium to celebrate the Dodgers’ 2025 title. The team raised its World Series banner during a pregame ceremony on Opening Day, and Freddie Freeman and Miguel Rojas delivered the trophies from center field to in front of the dugout.

On Friday, Dodgers players and coaches will receive their 2025 World Series rings. The series finale on Saturday will feature another promotion, with fans receiving a Will Smith “Game 7 World Series home run” bobblehead.

Dodgers benefiting from fan support

The Dodgers reached 4 million in home attendance for the first time in franchise history last season. With that, the team averaged more than 49,000 fans per game for only the second time in franchise history, having also done so in 2019 (49,066).

Before accomplishing the feat, the New York Mets and New York Yankees were the last two teams to draw more than 4 million fans when they did so at Shea Stadium and the old Yankee Stadium, respectively, in 2008.

“For these fans to show up every day, it’s incredible,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said last year. “There’s a reason why I feel we have the best fans in sports, and the numbers speak to it.
