The Los Angeles Dodgers are headed back to the National League Championship Series after an unexpected ending in Game 4 against the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Dodgers evened up the all-time postseason series against the Phillies with their win in the NL Division Series. L.A. now has been victorious in 1977, 1978 and 2025, while Philadelphia won in 1983, 2008 and 2009.
Each time, the losing side has only ever managed one win in the series.
The dichotomy of emotions was on full display on the field as the winning run crossed home plate on Orion Kerkering’s errant throw. The Dodgers’ dugout stormed the field in utter disbelief at what just happened, while the Phillies walked off in dismay.
The Dodgers gathered for a team photo in their new NLCS shirts and continued the celebration in the batting cage once again.

Tyler Glasnow and Roki Sasaki were the Dodgers’ two stars of the game on the pitching side and they received plenty of love from their teammates during the celebration.
Glasnow allowed just five base runners in the game en route to six scoreless innings, while striking out eight.
He had been dealing with cramps in this game after the third inning. The right-hander said it didn’t affect him much, but it was a reason why Dodgers manager Dave Roberts decided to pull him after six innings and 83 pitches.
Sasaki followed that up later in the game with three crucial scoreless innings of his own, giving the Dodgers a chance to walk it off in the 11th.
Dodgers waiting on NLCS opponent
The Dodgers have to wait until Saturday to see who will be their opponent in the NLCS after the Chicago Cubs forced a Game 5 with their win over the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field.
The Cubs won four of seven games, while the Brewers took all six of their meetings against the Dodgers in 2025. The Dodgers and Cubs have not faced each other since April 23. L.A.’s pitching staff has come a long way since then and should help to tip the scales more in their favor in a potential NLCS matchup.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers and Brewers last met in July, playing all six games that month. Milwaukee played well in the games, but also caught the Dodgers during their worst month of the season.
The schedule and start times for the NLCS against the Brewers or Cubs can be found here.
