Kyle Schwarber Joins List Of Players To Hit Home Run Out Of Dodger Stadium With NLDS Blast

The Philadelphia Phillies staved off elimination with an 8-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the National League Division Series behind a pair of home runs from Kyle Schwarber.

Schwarber led off the fourth inning with a 455-foot blast against Yoshinobu Yamamoto that cleared the right field pavilion. In doing so, Schwarber became only the sixth player to hit a home run out of Dodger Stadium in its 63-year history.

“I mean, when I hit it, I know it’s a home run,” Schwarber said after the game. “I didn’t even see where it landed. I was looking in the dugout trying to get the guys going, get back in the dugout, everyone is high-fiving.

“I knew I hit it good. I didn’t know where it went. Eventually somebody tells me, you watch it on video where it goes. I was just more focused on our guys there. I don’t care. Like you said, it could go in the first row, it could hit the freakin’ board right there. I don’t care.

“But hits are great, homers are great, walks are great, anything positive for our offense is going to be great. But, yeah, it was a cool moment.”

Schwarber later added a second home run in the eighth inning off Clayton Kershaw that extended the Phillies’ lead over the Dodgers to 8-1. He finished his night 2-for-4 with three RBI and a walk.

Schwarber’s moonshot off Yamamoto was the fourth-longest home run of his postseason career, and he now has five homers of at least 450 feet in the playoffs. Freddie Freeman is the only other player with at least two home runs of 450 feet or longer in the postseason during the Statcast era (since 2015).

It was Schwarber’s second career multi-home run game in the postseason and his first since Game 2 of the 2023 NL Championship Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Schwarber’s 23 career postseason home runs rank third all-time behind Manny Ramírez (29) and Jose Altuve (27). Schwarber has the most postseason home runs of any left-handed hitter.

Schwarber has also homered in every single round of the postseason in each league.
