Dodgers Rumors: Adam Serwinowski Was On Team’s Radar ‘For A While’

The Los Angeles Dodgers had a fairly eventful 2025 trade deadline, addressing two areas of need while also acquiring some Minor League talent.

The Dodgers again were plenty active at the deadline, but avoided making any of the rumored big moves that some anticipated.

In typical Dodgers fashion, they completed a three-team trade with Tampa Bay Rays and Cincinnati Reds that had an eye on the present as well as the future. They acquired Paul Gervase and Ben Rortvedt from the Rays, and pitching prospect Adam Serwinowski from the Reds.

Gervase pitched in just one game for the Dodgers after the trade but should be a candidate to contribute down the line. And while Gervase appeared to be the centerpiece of the deal, Rortvedt went on to make a significant impact and Serwinowski shows real upside.

According to Jack Harris of the L.A. Times, Serwinowski was highly regarded by the Dodgers’ scouting department:

A 21-year-old left-hander who was ranked as the No. 10 prospect in the Reds’ farm system by MLB Pipeline, the former 15th-round draft pick has been a favorite of Dodgers’ evaluators for a while, according to another person with knowledge of the team’s thinking.

A 15th-round selection by the Reds in 2022, Serwinowski rose the ranks to become a well-regarded prospect in their farm system this year. He has shown great development with his fastball velocity as he continued to fill in his 6-foot-5 frame.

The southpaw has a similarly dangerous slider with a high spin rate and is developing a changeup that can pay dividends when used correctly. Control and command are the two main issues holding him back from being an upper-echelon prospect, and the Dodgers are hoping that can be rectified in their system.

Serwinowski became the 13th-ranked Dodgers and is their third-highest in terms of pitchers, behind Jackson Ferris (No. 6) and River Ryan (No. 8).

Dodgers trade Dustin May to Boston Red Sox

The Dodgers’ final move before the deadline this year was trading Dustin May to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for a pair of prospects.

May went to the Red Sox after pitching through some inconsistency in his return to the mound this year. The on-field results and Dodgers’ rotation getting healthy amounted to May becoming a trade candidate.

With May set to become a free agent at the end of the season, the Dodgers decided it was best to get some value for him rather letting him walk for nothing.
