The Philadelphia Phillies and Citizens Bank Park are already confirmed as the host for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, but the Toronto Blue Jays could be an option to receive the honor in the near future.
The 2025 All-Star Game concluded with a 7-6 win for the National League after coming out on top in the first ever Home Run Derby swing-off.
MLB has its next host lined up already, but is considering potential locations for the 2027 and 2028 All-Star Games as well. Thus far, the only future All-Star Game site that is set is Citizens Bank Park.
The Chicago Cubs are considered to be a leading candidate to host in the near future, but MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said the Blue Jays are trending upwards as well, according to Mitch Bannon of the Athletic:
Speaking to media at the 2025 All-Star Game in Atlanta, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said the Blue Jays are “perking up to the top of the list” to host a future All-Star week.
The Cubs appear to be the leading candidate to host the 2027 All-Star Game at Wrigley Field if they can address some of the concerns that MLB has.
Seemingly the only hurdle preventing the Cubs from hosting is security at Wrigley Field doesn’t meet the standards MLB requires for the All-Star Game. Manfred said the Cubs are actively working on addressing those concerns in order to receive the bid to host the 2027 MLB All-Star Game.
That would suggest the Blue Jays could wind up hosting as early as 2028, though the San Francisco Giants may be generating momentum for the Midsummer Classic that year. Thus, the Blue Jays’ most likely scenario is the 2029 MLB All-Star Game.
History of Toronto Blue Jays hosting All-Star Game
The Blue Jays last hosted the All-Star Game in 1991, which was their first and only time. It is at least partially why Manfred wants to award them a chance to again receive the honor in the near future.
He believes that Toronto and Chicago are well-equipped to handle all of the festivities as host cities.
