Dodgers Rehab Assignments Details For Blake Treinen & Blake Snell

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been without Blake Snell and Blake Treinen for long stretches this season, as they’ve made just two and eight appearances, respectively.

The Dodgers have missed the presence of both pitchers this season, given they both were being counted on to play large roles in the team’s pitching staff.

Because of the delicate nature of their injuries, Snell and Treinen have had lengthy recovery timelines. But both have been facing hitters, with Snell throwing two simulated innings at Dodger Stadium on Saturday and Treinen following with one frame.

Now Treinen is beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday and Snell is poised to do so with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Thursday, according to Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

Snell was among the first casualties this season, initially landing on the 15-day injured list due to left shoulder inflammation April 6 (backdated to April 3). It has been a long road back for him to even get this far.

Snell’s throwing program was shut down in late April, which required an injection to treat lingering pain/discomfort in his left shoulder.

Snell has been able to use all of his pitches while completing his throwing sessions against hitters recently, which was a sign that he was ready to progress to starting in Minor League games.

Treinen was placed on the 15-day injured list in mid-April and transferred to the 60-day IL on May 1 with what the Dodgers described as a low-grade strain in his right forearm.

The Dodgers brought him along slowly through his progression, which has been their philosophy this season in the hopes of “nailing” the rehab process for all of their pitchers.

After a couple of rehab assignments under their belt, Snell and Treinen should be options to return in the middle to end of July.

Blake Snell & Blake Treinen following Tyler Glasnow’s lead

Tyler Glasnow was another one of the Dodgers’ pitchers to miss a large chunk of the season due to injury. He was activated from the 60-Day IL ahead of Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

This was after completing three starts in the Minors with the Comets. Now Snell and Treinen are up next with rehab assignments of their own.
