The 2025 MLB All-Star Game starters were announced on Wednesday, which saw Los Angeles Dodgers teammates Freddie Freeman (first base) and Will Smith (catcher) voted into the National League lineup.
They joined Shohei Ohtani, who earned an automatic starting spot at designated hitter by virtue of receiving the most votes of any NL player during Phase 1.
Mookie Betts, Tommy Edman, Teoscar Hernández, Max Muncy and Andy Pages advanced to Phase 2 of voting but all fell short of earning a starting role. However, the Dodgers still have the most All-Star starters of any NL team and could earn additional selections.
Joining Freeman and Smith in the NL lineup are Ketel Marte (second base), Manny Machado (third base), Francisco Lindor (shortstop), Ronald Acuña Jr. (outfield), Pete Crow-Armstrong (outfield) and Kyle Tucker (outfield).
The Detroit Tigers tied the Dodgers with an MLB-best three All-Star Game starters for 2025 as Gleyber Torres (second base), Riley Greene (outfield) and Javier Báez (outfield) received the nod for the American League.
Other AL starters include Cal Raleigh (catcher), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (first base), José Ramírez (third base), Jacob Wilson (shortstop) and Ryan O’Hearn (designated hitter). The New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge earned an automatic starting spot (outfield) when he received the most votes of any player during Phase 1.
The remaining 23 roster spots for each All-Star team will be filled with a mix of pitchers and reserves by way of player ballot choices and picks made by the commissioner’s office. Full All-Star Game rosters will be announced on Sunday, July 6, at 2 p.m. PT on ESPN.
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game is being played at Truist Park in Atlanta on Tuesday, July 15.
