Dodgers Updates: Roki Sasaki, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow & Blake Treinen

The Los Angeles Dodgers have opened up a comfortable lead in the National League West standings despite their pitching staff still being without the likes of Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki and Blake Treinen, among others.

And on Monday the Dodgers absorbed another loss with Michael Kopech going back on the 15-day injured list due to right knee inflammation. Kopech’s IL stint is retroactive to June 28, which makes Sunday, July 13, the earliest date he can return.

Meanwhile, the likes of Glasnow, Snell and Treinen have been making notable progress in their respective recoveries of late. They have since been joined by Sasaki after it briefly appeared the Dodgers rookie was at risk of not pitching again in 2025.

Dodgers injury updates

Tyler Glasnow

Glasnow is scheduled to make a third start for Triple-A Oklahoma City on his rehab assignment. He completed two scoreless innings on June 22 but struggled five days later and failed to meet the goal of getting through four.

The Dodgers hope for Glasnow to throw 75 pitches over five innings on Thursday. That could then be followed by a return to the Dodgers’ rotation, though manager Dave Roberts wasn’t ready to declare as much.

“Let’s try to get through this one, get through five, go up and down, build the pitch count up and all that stuff, and also pitch well. And then we’ll have that conversation,” Roberts said.

Glasnow has been out since April 28 because of right shoulder inflammation.

Blake Snell

Snell’s fastball velocity reached the mid-90s over the weekend and he continued to play catch from flat ground on Tuesday.

Next is Snell pitching to batters on Wednesday, which will mark his first time doing so since going on the injured list April 6 with left shoulder inflammation.

Roki Sasaki

Sasaki played catch on Tuesday and threw with more intent than what was previously seen.

“Roki has been trending. Roki is pain-free. Flat ground, the velocity, the effort, intensity, all that stuff has really ticked up,” Roberts said. “So it’s been good. Physically, he looks good. I’m not sure when he’s going to get on the mound, but pretty optimistic.”

Blake Treinen

Treinen also threw a bullpen session at Dodger Stadium this past weekend, and he too is going to face batters on Wednesday.

“Hopefully we’re starting to turn the corner a little bit,” Roberts said of progress Snell and Treinen are now making.
