Dodgers Rumors: Bobby Miller Recalled From Triple-A Oklahoma City

Bobby Miller was projected to be part of an impressive collection of pitching depth the Los Angeles Dodgers boasted heading into the 2025 season, but the year has hardly gone as planned.

The right-hander made just one appearance during Spring Training, when Miller was struck in the head by a line drive and put into concussion protocol. Thus, Miller was optioned to Minor League camp before the Dodgers left for Tokyo and began the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

He’s now poised to join the team for a second time this year as the Dodgers face a need for pitching, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post:

Dodgers are calling up Bobby Miller. They used 8 pitchers in 7-5, 13-inning win Friday night and have a dozen plus more on IL.

— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) May 24, 2025

Clayton Kershaw pitched just two innings on Friday night because of a rain delay at Citi Field that lasted one hour and 38 minutes. The Dodgers nearly managed to navigate their way through the game anyhow thanks to three innings each from Matt Sauer and Ben Casparius.

However, Tanner Scott blew his fourth save of the season and the game went into extra innings. While the Dodgers came away with a win, they used seven of eight relievers current on their roster. Only Jack Dreyer did not pitch in the 13-inning affair.

Bobby Miller’s stats

Miller previously was up with the Dodgers in the middle of April for a spot start. He was provided a 7-1 lead after the first inning but it wound up being a disastrous outing for Miller.

He gave up a grand slam as part of a five-run third inning that erased the Dodgers’ comfortable lead and managed to complete just three innings. If there was a silver lining to be found, Miller struck out seven batters and walked only one.

Miller was optioned to Oklahoma City the day after his start. He’s pitched to mixed results in the Minor Leagues thus far but is capable of providing the Dodgers with length.

It’s not yet clear what the corresponding roster move is for Miller to join the Dodgers. One conceivable possibility is to option Sauer and have Miller fill a similar multi-inning role.
