The Los Angeles Dodgers earned a 9-2 comeback win in their series rubber match against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, receiving home runs from Teoscar Hernández and Andy Pages.
Hernández led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a home run, which was the 200th of his career and 41st as a member of the Dodgers.
“It is special, especially with the way we’re playing the game right now,” he said after the game. “Everything is going the way we want it to go, everybody is taking good at-bats, getting good contact. For me, it’s pretty special.
“It’s hard to hit homers in the big leagues, so getting that achievement is pretty good.”
Hernández has been one of the Dodgers’ biggest sluggers over the last two seasons, but the joy he brings to the clubhouse with his infectious personality is just as valuable.
That was evident when Hernández got extremely excited for Pages’ home run later in the fifth inning.
“I try to enjoy every single moment, even if it’s not me hitting the ball or making a play,” Hernández explained. “I try to bring that energy to the other guys to be positive and not think about the negative. Just enjoy every single moment that we have on the field.”
Pages has been on a tear as of late after some initial struggles and recently expressed gratitude to Hernández for giving him guidance.
The 32-year-old has been praised by several players for the leadership he has shown during his time with the Dodgers.

Through 26 games this season, Hernández is batting .277/.295/.574 with six doubles, a team-leading eight home runs and 25 RBI in 105 plate appearances.
Since joining the Dodgers, Hernández’s 41 home runs ranks 10th in MLB.
