Dodgers Injury Update: Blake Treinen Has ‘Low-Grade’ Forearm Sprain

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost a key member of their bullpen on Saturday as Blake Treinen was placed on the 15-day injured list with right forearm tightness.

Treinen warmed up during the bottom of the ninth inning of Friday’s game against the Texas Rangers but never entered as Tanner Scott stranded two baserunners to record his seventh save of the season.

Treinen last pitched on April 13, when he allowed a run in his one inning of work against the Chicago Cubs. He threw 20 pitches, which marked his second-highest in a game this season.

Treinen underwent an MRI which revealed a low-grade forearm sprain and is heading back to Los Angeles for further testing, via Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:

#Dodgers Dave Roberts said exam of Blake Treinen yesterday revealed a low-grade forearm sprain. Heading back to LA for further exam. No timeline for return

The update on Treinen is not ideal and it now appears he will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts nonetheless is remaining optimistic considering Treinen doesn’t appear to need surgery.

The 36-year-old was 0-2 with two saves, a 3.38 ERA, 3.66 FIP and 1.38 WHIP in eight games prior to landing on the IL.

The Dodgers recalled Evan Phillips from Oklahoma City as the corresponding move to Treinen going on the injured list, and he recorded two outs in his 2025 debut on Saturday.

Phillips was in the middle of a rehab assignment with the Comets and originally expected to join the Dodgers for their series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field this week.

Blake Treinen offered advice to Justin Wrobleski

After Justin Wrobleski struggled in his 2025 debut earlier this month, Treinen sat down with the rookie and gave some advice.

The veteran explained that he felt it was important to offer encouraging words to Wrobleski rather than leave him be.
