Recap: Dodgers Lose Series To Cubs; Pete Crow-Armstrong & Michael Busch Combine For 3 Home Runs

The Los Angeles Dodgers struggled to keep Pete Crow-Armstrong and Michael Busch in the ballpark Sunday night, which resulted in a 4-2 loss to the Chicago Cubs.

After sweeping the Cubs in the Tokyo Series, the Dodgers dropped two of three at Dodger Stadium. The teams have a two-game series at Wrigley Field from April 22-23.

Tyler Glasnow was much improved after getting derailed by rain in his last start. Pitching under a sunny sky and comfortable temperature at Dodger Stadium, Glasnow held the Cubs to two runs over six innings.

He surrendered a solo home run to Crow-Armstrong in the third inning, which tied the game, and that was one of just three hits the Cubs managed off Glasnow. However, a second hit also was a home run, as Busch continued to torment his former team.

Glasnow was one out away from getting through six innings with the game still tied when he gave up a homer to Busch.

The Dodgers responded in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game on Max Muncy’s sacrifice fly, though that was all they mustered after putting two runners in scoring position with nobody out.

Blake Treinen failed to keep the game tied in the seventh inning as Crow-Armstrong connected for his second home run of the game. The Southern California native hit just 10 homers for the Cubs as a rookie last year.

Dodgers rest Freddie Freeman

When Freddie Freeman returned from the 10-day injured list, he acknowledged the time off was beneficial — and needed — but remained committed to playing each game.

However, Freeman added he would take days of rest if his right ankle required it, and the Dodgers decided that point came Sunday.

“Planned off day. He was either going to take today or tomorrow off, given that we have six in a row,” manager Dave Roberts said before the game.

“He wasn’t going to play six in a row, so we just felt that today would be the best day, and then we’ll run him for three against the Rockies.”
