Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, and Tommy Edman hit a home run to help the Los Angeles Dodgers extend their Cactus League winning streak to seven games by defeating the Texas Rangers 8-4.
Before blasts from Freeman and Smith, Shohei Ohtani had a hand in the Dodgers taking the lead as he doubled down the left-field line in the first inning. The Dodgers then caught a break as the Rangers failed to turn a routine ground ball into the third out of the inning, allowing Ohtani to score on the error.
Freeman hit his third home run of Spring Training in the third inning. Freeman’s first two homers were both pull-side, whereas his long ball on Thursday went to left-center field. Freeman is tied for the Dodgers’ Spring Training lead with three homers despite his delayed start to getting into Cactus League games.
Smith, recovering from an ankle injury, also went to left-center field for his home run. Smith has maintained the bone bruise on his left ankle only impacts him when running.
Edman’s two-run homer broke the game open for the Dodgers in the sixth inning. Michael Conforto went 3-for-3 with a double in the Dodgers’ win. He entered just 2-for-17 in seven prior games this spring.
The Dodgers, who open the season in Japan against the Cubs, are +275 favorites to defend their World Series title.

Dustin May struggled with regularly falling behind in the count but worked through three scoreless innings. They may benefit from inducing a double play and collecting three strikeouts.
Among the Dodgers prospects on the roster for the team’s Spring Breakout game, Jackson Ferris gave up two runs but finished with five strikeouts over two innings.
Kirby Yates had a strange appearance as he allowed three hits but got through a scoreless inning, thanks mainly to Smith throwing a runner out on a stolen base attempt.
Blake Treinen allowed two runs in the seventh inning, but Tanner Scott worked a clean eighth.
