Dodgers Front Office Heralded For ‘Insane Discipline’ In Sports Poll

The Los Angeles Dodgers stormed their way to a World Series title last year by defeating the New York Yankees in five games in a historic matchup.

President of baseball operations Andrew Friedman and general manager Brandon Gomes created a Dodgers roster that was capable of wearing down an opposing pitching staff and able to absorb significant injuries. A quality of their approach is the belief in having some restraint for potential signings and trades, as well.

Speaking with several executives and coaches across the four major sports leagues, the Dodgers were named as being among the cream of the crop in terms of how they operate at peak performance, per The Athletic:

In part, another executive explained, that stems from the front office’s “insane discipline,” not wasting resources on mid-tier players so that when a star becomes available, the team can pounce.

The Dodgers front office has been among the best in Major League Baseball by avoiding contracts that have a negative effect on the payroll. Even with the deep pockets of the organization, players with price tags attached that force them to operate away from other bar-raising pieces isn’t a factor.

Since Friedman took over, he’s elevated the Dodgers into a place that checks all the boxes of a sustained winner. Their peak performance has resulted in two World Series championships and making the playoffs in every season since 2015.

Andrew Friedman wants ‘golden era’ of Dodgers baseball

Speaking recently about the Dodgers’ success and their offseason signings, Friedman touched on wanting the current stretch for the team to be viewed as the best in the franchise’s illustrious history.

How the front office aligns their values, while creating a culture in their Minor League system, bleeds throughout every aspect of the club. They are trying to build a dynasty.

The Dodgers have a core of players in place that are future Hall of Famers, and a controllable crop of pitchers who have all been some of the best in MLB.
