The Los Angeles Dodgers boast one of the most talented offenses in baseball, with multiple MVP Award winners and All-Stars scattered throughout the lineup.
Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman combined to form a terrific trio at the top of the order in 2024, while the likes of Teoscar Hernández, Max Muncy and Will Smith helped round out an impressive group of hitters.
For opposing teams, facing a healthy Dodgers lineup may seem like an impossible task at times.
In a recent ESPN survey, Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde and Los Angeles Angels skipper Ron Washington named Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani as two players they dread seeing:
Hyde: There’s so many. [Shohei] Ohtani, Soto, [Aaron] Judge, [Mookie] Betts, Yordan Alvarez. Wrap them all up. I don’t want to face any of them.
Washington: Mookie Betts — because he bust my ass many times.
Ohtani enjoyed a record-setting season in his first year with the Dodgers as he joined the 50-50 club and won his third unanimous MVP Award. Betts had another productive season as well despite missing some time due to a hand injury.
Ohtani and Betts remain under contract with the Dodgers for many years to come, to the chagrin of MLB managers around the league.
The Dodgers as a team ranked first in WRC+ (118), slugging percentage (.446), on-base plus slugging (.781) and WAR (33.8) during the 2024 season. They also placed among the top three in home runs (233), runs (842) and on-base percentage (.335).
Dodgers won Silver Slugger team award
The Dodgers were recognized for their success at the plate by being named the Silver Slugger National League Offensive Team of the Year for the 2024 season.
The award was established in 2023, which saw the Atlanta Braves take home honors.
